Social and affordable housing refers to housing that is (at least in part) subsidised by the government. Social housing is a form of rental housing provided and/or managed by government or non-government organisations and rented out at below market rent. Affordable housing is a rental dwelling available through a housing assistance program that provides for a specified level of below market rent, with eligibility typically targeting households on low to moderate incomes.
