Disadvantaged communities—including but not limited to Indigenous households, differently abled individuals, refugees and other humanitarian migrants—often require additional support in housing. Homelessness refers to a range of unsatisfactory housing situations, from completely without shelter (e.g. sleeping rough), to living in crowded or otherwise inappropriate housing situations.
This section covers research and data on homelessness across Australia, as well as Indigenous housing and other specialist housing, assistance and other disadvantaged communities.
This series of reports, beginning in 2018, provides a comprehensive overview of homelessness in Australia with secondary data analysis and interview findings.
